What is a wiki-Woodstock

what is a wiki-Woodstock?

wiki-Woodstock is a playful online-happening to foster common interactivity and creativity worldwide by repetively organizing weekends when promising social software is tried out by many and in various experimental combinations. wiki-Woodstock tries to give help so that all can join in. It seeks to produce useful and beautiful results that belong to everybody and is looking for mass participation.

A geeki-wiki-Woodstock is a meeting for anyone and everyone interested in wiki, free software, open source, collaborative art, free and open teaching/learning, translation, programming, … geeks and not-so-geeks having global fun and setting of for an orgy in collaboration.

We don’t really know yet. We just made it up, know?

What could a wiki-Woodstock be? That is practically more important right now to what a wiki-Woodstock actually will be.

three days of love and wiki !

wiki-Woodstock - an event named after a brilliant piece of social software and a hippie-festival that kinda changed the world. More and more people understand what open source and what free software and what wiki is. Many have seen the movie of the ‘69 Woodstock festival. Many sensed the spirit. wiki-Woodstock.

Neither should be predefined that wiki-woodstock is an anual event nor shoud it be forced to happen nervously parallel with any open soure or wiki-relevant gathering or conference. wiki-Woodstock is repetitive. But: ii happen by itself mostly, don’t force it to happen. A wiki-Woodstock is an online-tsunami of applied intelligence.

By all means: when you think the occasion is brilliant and the time for a wiki-Woodstock has come: Go for it! May the community be with you.

When preparing and celebrating one remember to think of the next wiki-Woodstock already. What could be improved? What experiments could be taken to find out about interesting dynamics?

Everybody is welcome on a wiki-Woodstock. Online and offline. And for that what’s still offline, maybe we can connect it to other offline parts of wiki-Woodstock online? ;)

There are other, even faster tools than wiki more suited for real-time collaboration to be used during the actual three days (for preparation and documentation wiki still rules). But wiki-Woodstock was made up on wiki. That’s why.
