MattisManzel: Nice idea the currently also working on. To automatize that and make the links come in and move out just as you work - in vast wikilandia - without having to care for keeping the sidebar here updated, we need the wiki-net server.

Haven’t looked at social-synergy-wiki for a while. Looks different than how the ones in my wiki-herd look like. I might update some things. Wrapping up links under special especially. Frees the sidebar for currently also working on - which is long, maybe also helps on?

A nice pair they are: who helps here? and also helps on :)

SamRose: wiki-net server is awesome!

I stole “Currently also working on” from the link in CommunityWiki that links to CollectiveProblemSolving wiki.

“Who Helps Here” and “Helps On” are actually great ideas, too. it would be good to get people to list those types of links in the different wikis they are active in, to encourage WikiNet and InterWiki collaboration.

SamRose:SamRose: I wonder if WikiNet Server functions can be decentralized, or spread out among many? As in LionKimbro’s vision from below, but perhaps installed on the same server as each wiki engine. Perhaps this would be redundant, but it could also keep the system from breaking by having one failure point. I tried to post this to wiki-net serverbut kept running up against spam filter. :/

MattisManzel: True, a wiki-hive software bundle should contain a wiki-net server. As decentratized as possible. And each wiki-net server suports some other wikis. But lets aim to get one for oddwiki running first. I’d love some tech-talk how that could be done.

See MessagesFromOddWiki for the spam filter problem.

I’m currently in a day-page craze, sorry. ;) <== spam!!

Ah, got it about Spam. I agree, just getting working with one OddWiki Hive would seem to also solve the problem of “distributing” the system to some degree. But also the same basic model could be adopted by all other wikis. Every wiki could potentially have a WikiNetServer?, perhaps.

I’d like to see if we can get Lion talking about this some more. I am still learning how to install and configure OddMuse on grid server (I have one running here: http://s4560.gridserver.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl), and I am also slowly working my way through tackling OddWiki. But, I am also interested in thinking about the Wiki net server problem. I see what he is talking about with a spider that collects RSS under certain guidlines. I wonder if any changes would need to be made to OddMuse to make this work? Perhaps not. I also am curious about what Lion was thinking regarding visualization.
