The old text of the page oddwiki and a reaction concerning the security of data
A wiki-hive means: Everybody - even without a login - can make a new wiki on it within seconds. There is no asking for permission. See how to make your own bliki?
In June 2004 Alex Schröder, author of the wiki-engine Oddmuse, installed the first oddwiki on Lion Kimbro's taoriver server. For the first time (as far as we know) you could make a wiki by simply typing its name, clicking Go! and ready was your wiki to be edited rightaway - wiki-wiki. That’s quick in Hawaian.
Alex moved oddwiki to communitywiki.org in 2005. So: Here it is. Faites-vos jeux, s’il-vous plait, mes dames et messieurs! Rien ne va plus.
We’re testing bliki.
We’re starting up the oddmuse-zen-garden.
It should be noted, as far as I know, that this data is not secure. There are no guarentees about the “safety” of this work. Correct? MarkDilley
MattisManzel: Interesting question, Mark. To my feeling this is an impression that arises from Alex’s and Lion’s way of expressing themselves when the hive was created. I have no doubt that all data here is safe and that Alex makes regular backups of it. It is “safe” as much as wiki and Oddmuse in the oddwiki context is safe. I do believe it is pretty safe. In case 2000 soccer-clubs would come over to suddenly make wikis here it would probably not be accessible or pretty slow for a while, but the data is safe. In that case it would be easy I guess to move the hive to a more performant server (every soccer-club donates a dollar per year, - snap! - done).
“On oddwiki we are generally interested in creating a world-communication-tool.” - what about that as an introduction?
