The idea for an empty-wiki sprang up on 2006-05-23 Talk.

This is the page on the odd-wiki-center-en for discussing the empty-wiki

MattisManzel: Hm, I wonder if xtof takes more than 48 hour to start the empty-wiki in French. I seriously doubt it. A German leeres-wiki should follow.

You know, I do some things different on wiki. I don’t want anyone to feel run over. The empty-wiki is for everyone and can be shaped by everyone.

We need to get this started, I mean.

Best would be that we can run a script on request of somebody with a new wiki that blikifies it automatically.

It should be possible to write a script that does all the copying work. Actually, it should be possible to use Main:Migration to migrate all the pages from the Empty Wiki to any other Oddmuse wiki you want – including other Oddwikis!

You create your wiki on startup - 1 minute - we execute the blikification-script - on request - ready is your bliki. It should include the instructions. You work them through on your wiki, personalize it, delete the instructions and a fully operational wiki could be ready even in a few hours.

I moved Main:EmptyWiki/Changing_the_banner to

We need CamelCase for bone-stiff PageNames. It has to be ugly to have a reason for community-wiki: editable-titels on the “long” run. (titel needs a spell-check, the presence of French confuses me ;) ) Else we are for eternity going on with [[Half solutions]].

xtof : I’d be interested to open a french OddWikiCentre. Adapting french translations. Alex, how about migrating the old Main:MamanWiki and a copy all OddWikiCenter? pages to start on fresh new OddWikiCentre. Mattis would you have the original banner picture to drop a french title ? FYI, I’m currenlty opening the Main:WikiVide.

AlexSchroeder: I see. Have you tried running the wikicopy script? I’ll be happy to help – and in improving the documentation if you have not managed to run it! :)

xtof : I just tried to Main:Installer_Perl with ActivePerl?. Seems to work. But some troubles in the command-line ? cd Mes Documents and other commands are seen as “unkwown commands” ? *Perl Package manager : http://static.flickr.com/54/152579548_4c7539c6fb_o.png *Ligne de commande windows : http://static.flickr.com/52/152588964_7724830755_o.png

AlexSchroeder: What are you doing inside the packet manager? No need to do that. Just save the wikicopy script from your webbrowser as a file (“wikicopy”). Then run “perl wikicopy -i xxx xxx xxx” from the command line.

xtof : Thanks but it remains for me extremely confusing even with your new explanations. The Oddmuse:wikicopy is not very clear. Tried some tests again… (photo + details on Xtof:OddWikiCentre). I really don’t feel at ease with dangerous scripts. Maybe we could have a gtalk some day or I’ll try to find some french expert in town ;-) Have a nice week-end.

AlexSchroeder: I see. :(

I ran the following command for you:

wikicopy -i "http://www.communitywiki.org/odd/MamanWiki?action=index;raw=1" "http://www.communitywiki.org/odd/MamanWiki" "http://www.communitywiki.org/odd/OddWikiCentre"

I hope that helps.

xtof : Thanks a lot Alex. Yeah ! It works and will help our future french blikistes ! (1) I’ll keep this wikicopy script elsewhere to test future migrations. (2) will do some cleaning and install css.
