With many thanks to Donna Benjamin, we’re able to give you a sneak peek of the venue – UrbanCamp, Royal Park, Melbourne. There’s fantastic collaborative spaces in this venue, and it has basic sleeping accommodation.

For general release
The fourth BarCampMelbourne event, to be held at Urban Camp, in Royal Park, Melbourne on 12th-13th September, is expected to host over 100 technology enthusiasts. The weekend will see dozens of presentations on programming, hardware, business and business processes, web design and other technical topics, in an informal and friendly environment.
Unlike formal conferences, BarCamps are user-driven. Participants themselves generate content, which can be as short as a 5 minute
Lightning Talk, or as long as a two hour workshop. BarCamp events are organised by volunteers using free social networking tools such as Twitter, WordPress, Identi.ca and IRC.
BarCampMelbourne 2009 will be a great way to meet other enthusiasts, learn new skills, share ideas and establish connections.
Registrations for the event are now open: http://barcampmelbourne.org/register-for-barcampmelbourne2009/

BarCampMelbourne is a not for profit event, which the organisers try to make as affordable as possible for attendees, and if possible, free to attend. Of course, this is only possible with the generous help of our sponsors.
So, we’re putting the call out – do you know a company or organisation who could part with some cube goodies, a little bit of hard earned cash, or books etc to use as prizes? Want to know what we can do in return? Check out our Sponsorship page.
Let them know with an awesome flyer – here’s one we prepared earlier! (PDF, 19mb)

It’s taken a few months in the making, but as you can see the new BarCampMelbourne website is live! It’s based on WordPress MU and BuddyPress, which we’ve chosen to help build connections between BarCampers – so you can get to know each other before BarCamp! The site is brand new, so there’s bound to be some teething problems – if you let us know of any gremlins you find that would be great.
We’re hoping the site will help build the BarCampMelbourne community – so feel free to register, tell us a little bit about yourself and join in the discussions!

There is a collab-edit application named EtherPad integrated in the side bar of the Melbourne-wiki. We might have a little Melbourne ting in it. Copied to wiki afterwards, no kidding. Either Saturday late or Sunday early. http://tiny.cc/melbourneting
