ALTER EGO

1. Dictionary Meaning

alter ego n.

   1. Another side of oneself; a second self.
   2. An intimate friend or a constant companion.

[Latin : alter, other + ego, I, self.]

2. Comicbook Meaning

In comicbook worlds Alter Ego carries a particular special meaning. A comicbook alter ego is one of two (or more) forms that a particular character has. For example Bruce Wayne’s alter ego is Batman. And vice versa.

A stronger type of alter ego in comics is where a magical or high tech change occurs - rather than simply changing costume a character changes physical form or dons armour that is such an extreme change that there is no clue that the two forms are alter egos of the same character.

EXPLORATIONS Alter Egos are amongst the best possible ways to explore not just comicbook concepts in the classic superhero soap opera mold but also [[Freudian?]], [[Jungian?]] and [[feminist?]] ideas in a way that not only allows use of [[tropes?]] in a straightforward manner but also makes the results of our explorations accessible to everyone of all ages, without forcing a view.
