However, there is a rebellion among the old army, which has fielded troops against the government, and rallied behind the nephew of the deposed Vizier. The Caliph himself is in questionable authority, and the Hajj is backing a regency of his grandson, the charismatic young Salim, who they call Salim III.
The Kentauri Caliphate has roughly 45 million direct citizens, and another 25 million in protectorate states, it was recently at war with several small states to its south, but this war has subsided into a truce.
The Caliphate is a trading power house, making vast sums by exchanging between the Latin/Hellenic world and the nations of the Ocean Haram, including the State of ChiShan, the Sultanates, and the newly created [[Vedic_Kingdom?]], the also trade across the [[Ocean_Europa?]] with the [[Mayan_States?]].
