Discussion on OrganizedInquiry

< OrganizedInquiryDiscussionArchiveB | OrganizedInquiryHub | OrganizedInquiryDiscussionArchiveD? >

Sam, I hope I’m not doing something inappropriate, by doing a bit of reorganizing here;

I read on the 15’th: “Of course all feedback welcome, or even edits to actual pages :)” …and have liberally interpreted that as meaning that I could do some reorg here.

I really like what you are doing with it, BTW

Ok, I am trying to intitiate an OrganizedInquiry with BarCampBank Around our P2PMoney project. See also our discussion here. I’ll be creating a page on the BarCampBank wiki for this OrganizedInquiry, and we’ll be using google groups outreach discussions, ma.gnolia tagging, and probably more (hope maybe we can get CommunityWiki, Meatball, maybe C2, O guild, or others involved). Wish us luck, and please participate if you have a moment! :)

Also, I’ll probably be posting something about the questions to different blogs I write for.

I think I’ll also try asking my linkedin network a question, and throwing the question out on Yahoo answers and other question sites, too.

Our first question may also actually get some feedback from digg, and maybe K5 networks…thinking about those, too

Oh yes, and the link to the OrganizedInquiry page for P2PMoney is here:

Lion, one of the intitial things that I am finding in our P2PMoney OrganizedInquiry experiment is that, based on your clarification of the differences between ExtendedInquiry and NetworkedInquiry, that the ExtendedInquiry might end up being a potentially good way for new ideas to both create new connections, and find existing similar ideas.

While, NetworkedInquiry could be a next step for a project like P2PMoney, once we have established though an OrganizedInquiry, and an ExtendedInquiry where P2PMoney as a project to create an open source money distribution tool will exist. It will likeley be beneficial for us as BarCampBank:P2PMoney to also create a TensionMap of the P2PMoneyScape?, based on what we find in OrganizedInquiry.

Not saying this is conclusive, because it’s too early to tell, but reactions from many different people suggest that OrganizedInquiry combined with ExtendedInquiry can be good for new projects, both to inform them, and to inform others about them in useful ways that benefit all.

(the following are just some general notes)Another thing that I learned in our P2PMoney OrganizedInquiry process is that people should really spend some time thinking about and refining their brainstorming into questions, before extending those questions out. ExtendedInquiry should only be done on a very large scale for something that does not exist.

For instance, the example of a web based SVG editor that you mentioned on the phone, could be a good candidate for an ExtendedInquiry, because it was very hard to find this online.

Bad candidates would probably be anything that would annoy people because the answer is readily available. Annoying people should be avoided at all costs, because it will quickly result in people ignoring valid and useful ExtendedInquiry projects. Also, groups of people questioned should be chosen carefully to make sure that their interests are aligned.

Going to create a page here soon to give some feedback from the P2PMoney organized inquiry experiment. Right now, we are still researching and compiling in that inquiry. Just wanted to leave a note here so that anyone concerned knows I am still engaged.

I would like to invite anyone here who was interested in OrganizedInquiry to attend http://barcamp.org/BarCampBankFlashMeeting7 where I will present a summary of what we’ve gathered from P2PMoneyOrganizedInquiry.

We won’t be talking about OrganizedInquiry directly at all, other than perhaps a brief mention. But, this is the first time that I have personally directly applied the concepts we’ve talked about here in a systematic way, applied directly to a problem people are interested in solving. Once presented, I also plan on coming here and givign a summary of lessons I’ve learned from this first pilot process of attempting to apply OrganizedInquiry.
