The article from 2006-11-23 reminded me of a topic we have not touched on much in our discussions, but feels highly relevant to Collective Problem Solving.

How should DefiningTheProblem? be handled in addressing a specific problem?

For example, in the aforementioned article[1] the author is discussing the “crisis” mounting between citizens and government in the UK, seemingly driven by the empowerment of internet technology (most notably, blogs trashing politicians).

Now let’s say we try to “solve” this crisis; how might we define the problem? Below are some possible definitions, driven by different perspectives, which would result in (probably) drastically different outcomes. One can imagine this important definitional challenge for problem-solving environments really limiting their potential if not addressed successfully.
