Hi Mattis - I hope this comes out OK, and in the right place for you to see it. I can’t figure out how this wiki is structured. I just wanted to let you know that the city wikis page is missing the Open Guide to Cambridge, which is at http://cambridge.openguides.org/

It’s an actively maintained wiki - if it seems that the wiki isn’t changed very often, this is because Cambridge is quite a small place, and things in the city itself don’t change all that often either! --Kake

MattisManzel:
Thanks, Kake. I added the Cambridge-wiki. Cu

Btw there’s no more restriction of 10 urls per page to openguide now.

MattisManzel:
Thanks for the home pages for the Ulianovsk-wiki and the Vyatka-wiki. Well done. I registered at Ulianovsk-wiki to make a wiki-node in it but I can’t edit pages currently.

It says

 SELECT * FROM `mw_ipblocks` WHERE (ipb_range_start LIKE '5700%') AND (ipb_range_start <= '5700089A') AND (ipb_range_end >= '5700089A') AND ipb_anon_only = '0'
произошёл из функции «Block::loadRange». MySQL возвратил ошибку «1054: Unknown column 'ipb_anon_only' in 'where clause' (localhost)».

10 links to a domain maximum per page. If more use tiny-urls

Due to a new spam protection limiting the maximum number of links to a domain to 10 per page I had to replace some links to openguides.org with tinyurl’s on the WikiList. Well, it is for a good purpose.

MattisManzel, 2006-11-03:
Hi. Got a city-wiki to add? ;)

MattisManzel:
Thanks to the Anchorage-wiki for making a home page here, welcome.

MattisManzel:
Day-pages were split into different day-page sets. _Talk is the first. We could also have a calendar for events, like city-fests worldwide or one for news or so. Lets see.

city-wiki-center

MattisManzel:
node-wiki-for-?-wikis? In wikilandia-wide clean linking syntax this gives you a pagename like node-wiki-for-city-wikis: wiki-node. Horrible. It should be city-wiki-center: wiki-node. Thanks HelmutLeitner. I’m very sorry not to have understood that earlier. I’ll rename node-wikis to

On the long run the concept of center-wikis is obsolete, as it will be dynamic which wiki of a kind is the central one. You will see on the wiki-node / map which wiki contemporarily is central. On the short run the idea is still useful.

MattisManzel:
I renamed the forum to wiki-forum. The term forum gets confused as there are wikis that have a forum in form of another software, like a bbs-forum, attached. I also renamed WikIvry to Ivry-sur-seine-wiki, use real names.

A new cool SideBar for this wiki. Everybody can edit it.

Daniël, Maastricht-wiki:
Now I know what I want: A multi layer GIS, with bankomats, coffeeshops, cameras, cafe, postboxes etc. Something like this or this?

MattisManzel:
I get ya, let’s work it out.

Daniël, Maastricht-wiki:
hey, this city wiki thing… it is a sort of city-log, a virtual city… something whats going on in a town can immediately refelect in the wiki… and you can discuss it…. are there actually any citywikis allready with a considerable user group?

2004-11-24 Talk

MattisManzel:
Just discovered: OpenGuides are not only for London but a whole bunch of city-wikis. And they have an irc channel. Cool.

MattisManzel:
heya, seems to work the “forum”. What do you think about using the wiki-node pages on the different wikis as a messageboard for the node-wiki?

on MAPS

Daniël, Maastricht-wiki:
Hello,

Hey, for Wikimaas, I’m looking for a sort of map-plugin. We want to be able to scan a map of Maastricht and then, quite easily refer to coordinates on it, which could be viewed then.

Something I really liked was on http://www.amsterdamhotspots.nl, but I asked them, and they said they made it in Photoshop, which seems like a hell of a lot of work to me. As we want to keep on adding things to our wiki, I dont want to keep on updating the map… so does somebody know something really smart, maybe some program, or else a method to do this easily, and well - while i’m making demands - preferable executable on oddmuse wiki, but we could try something else too.

DavidCary:
Do you want latlong coordinates ? Then see http:/www.diku.dk/users/elgaard/eps/help.html .

What exactly looks like “a lot of work” ? It seems that adding things involves grabbing the map image file, drawing another label (using Gimp or Photoship or Paint Shop), then uploading that file. It doesn’t look like there needs to be anything added to oddmuse to make it work.

If you find some nice map editing tools, please tell me about it at http://visual.wiki.taoriver.net/moin.cgi/EarthMapTool .

If you find tools that make it easier to collaborate on drawing a map, please tell me about it at http://wikifeatures.wiki.taoriver.net/moin.cgi/WikiWhiteboard .

I was thinking of something, where users could say see [[E4?]] or [[F24?]] for a map, and that than automaticlly the properly highlighted sector would show up. But if I would be making a map my self, the more detailed, the more different files I should create, 10 by 10 would make allready one hundered… and this I do see as a lot of work. Well maybe, when I get unemployed, I could spend some time on it.

What’s a lat/long coordinate?

– Daniël, Maastricht, 2004-11-12

MattisManzel:
latitude/longitude

MattisManzel:
Hi everybody. I hope this node-wiki will help to make city-wikis grow and flourish. We can tell each other about new ideas and applications for city-wikis on this node-wiki.
