FEDS EVENT FORM: Part of the FEDS micromanagement plan. FEDS insists, and has gotten at least some cooperation from the University power structure, that in order for anyone to have any events this form must be filled out. The way it works (for a printed form) is that someone from our club (formally, supposed to be someone with FEDS “Signing authority”) takes the form to the FEDS Clubs Director (Dave McDougall as of January 2006) and discusses the event. Then they’re supposed to take the form around to a list of people designated by the Clubs Director (in practice, that will usually be just Donna Schell, for the room booking) and get it signed at each place, before bringing it back to the Clubs Director who will sign it again and keep it on file. The idea is to reduce bureaucratic paperwork - for FEDS, not for us. It appears that Donna will probably not give us room bookings without the form. There was a conflict when the form was introduced due to the fact that its wording purported to give FEDS the power to cancel our events. That was resolved; see FEDS History. Now it’s an annoying, but basically harmless, formality.
The FEDS Event Form should be filled out online at http://eventform.feds.ca/ whenever possible. A printable FEDS Event Form, among others, may be found at http://www.feds.uwaterloo.ca/clubs/operateaclub.html
