The previous link outlines principles for a form of DirectDemocracy?.

The page claims that, “Massively collaborative direct democracy does not employ elected officials, the collective consciousness of the populous is a self-policing and self-governing entity”. Taken at face value, this means that there is no civil service or police. However, perhaps what was meant is that there are no elected representatives in the legislative (and perhaps judicial) branch.

Proposals are voted on and near-unanimity is required in order for them to pass.

Users are pseudonymous and are paid when their discussion posts are modded highly.

To prevent special interests from slipping proposals in “under the radar”, all successful proposals all reviewed by a random set of users, who flag them for general review if they seem suspicious.

Legislation is organized into a hierarchy, with goals at the top level (example: safety), objectives in the middle (example: restricted ownership of weapon – a means to the end of safety), and polices (example: a ban on a particular type of weapon).
