AreWikiEverFinished

Could there exist a "finished" wiki?

For example, one could concieve of a wiki for a subject about which we know just about as much as there is to know, like TheGeneralSortingProblem?. Then you could create a wiki with all the knowledge in it and at some point all the pages would be there and they would all be refactored for maximum readability etc.

Type of wiki I see:

Are there wiki, that aren't in these categories?

Are there wiki which are both "finished" and useful?

That sounds about right to me. I don't think they're ever finished.

Even the ones on narrow topics- there are always better ways of presenting the same information.

Also, new angles on old ideas keep appearing.

1. Do we have a "Theory Of Infinite Improvement of Re-Factorable Knowledge" on our hands here? Stated: For every wiki there is some refactor that will improve the wiki.

2. Let us make the following analogies: wiki isLikeA HiveMind, HiveMind isLikeA PersonsMind?

3. Substituting into our Theory from step#1 we have: For every PersonsMind? there is some refactor that will improve the PersonsMind?. sounds like we're getting into some kind of Zen territory or something…

TargetReached says that some wikis have a topic that is exhaustively treated, and then instead of leaving, people hang around and keep talking amongst themselves. From FocusWiki to SocialWiki

Sure. Wikis for conferences are usually finished briefly after the conference ends. Wikis for planning camping trips are over once the car hits the road. Wikis that never catch on die. Sometimes they become obsolete, like MuWebWeb. My recommendation for all "wiki" question is to replace the word "wiki" with "room". Are rooms ever finished (being used)? My bedroom is not likely to be finished until I move, the Basilica even further in the future, but a meeting room is only very temporary. – SunirShah
